Saturn and Neptune in Aries: a new 36-year cycle
Saturn and Neptune spend all of 2027 together in Aries. Their conjunction was exact in February 2026 near 0° Aries, and it happens roughly every 36 years - the last one was in 1989, in Capricorn. Astrologers read it as the start of a long social cycle: new rules, new ideals and the slow work of giving dreams a real structure. Over the year Saturn moves from 8° to 28° Aries, then turns retrograde on August 10 and goes back to 21° by December 24. For many people this is a year of choosing what they truly believe in and building it step by step, without shortcuts.
Jupiter in Leo, then in Virgo
Jupiter, the planet of growth and luck, starts 2027 in Leo and stays there until July 26. It is retrograde until April 13 at 17° Leo, so the first months are better for preparing than for launching. After it turns direct, Leo themes take off: joy, creativity, romance, children, visibility and the courage to be seen. On July 26 Jupiter enters Virgo, where it stays until autumn 2028. The mood shifts from celebration to craft: growth now comes through work, skills, health habits, order and practical improvements. Leo has the luckiest first half of the year, Virgo the luckiest second half.
Eclipses of 2027 and the total solar eclipse of August 2
The lunar nodes are on the Leo - Aquarius axis, so most eclipses of 2027 fall in these signs. On February 6 there is an annular solar eclipse at 17° Aquarius, with its "ring of fire" visible from southern South America (Chile, Argentina) and West Africa. Penumbral lunar eclipses follow on February 20 (Virgo), July 18 (Capricorn) and August 17 (Aquarius). The main event of the year is the total solar eclipse of August 2 at 10° Leo, one of the longest of the century, with over 6 minutes of totality near Luxor, Egypt. The path crosses southern Spain (Cádiz, Málaga), the Strait of Gibraltar, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Somalia. Its themes are a new chapter in self-expression, love, creativity and courage.
Mars retrograde at the start of the year
Mars turns retrograde on January 10 at 10° Virgo, backs into Leo on February 21 and turns direct on April 1 at 21° Leo. It returns to Virgo only on May 14. For the first quarter of the year, drive and ambition turn inward: plans stall, old conflicts resurface and pushing hard tends to backfire. This is a good time to review projects, finish what you started and think twice before starting a fight or making a sudden, irreversible decision. Aries and Scorpio, whose sign Mars rules, usually feel this period most personally. From April, energy comes back, and from mid-May it becomes steadier.
Three Mercury retrogrades and no Venus retrograde
Mercury is retrograde three times in 2027: February 10 - March 3 (from Pisces back into Aquarius), June 11 - July 5 (from Cancer back into Gemini) and October 7 - October 28 (from Scorpio back into Libra). All three start in water signs, so they touch feelings more than paperwork: misunderstandings in close relationships, old topics coming back, sometimes an ex getting in touch. Double-check messages, contracts and travel plans in these weeks. The good news is that Venus has no retrograde at all in 2027 (the last one was in autumn 2026), which makes it a stable year for decisions about love, relationships and money.
Uranus in Gemini and Pluto in Aquarius
Uranus stays in Gemini all year, after settling there in April 2026. It speeds up everything connected with technology, communication, learning and information: sudden news, new tools, new ways of talking and working. Pluto has been in Aquarius since November 2024 and remains there all year, turning retrograde from May 8 to October 18 (from 7° back to 4° Aquarius). Its themes are collective change, networks, communities and artificial intelligence: the way people organize, connect and share power keeps shifting. On a personal level, these two planets show where life asks you to stay curious and let go of old habits.
